By Your Outdoor Gear Guru - October 2023

Hey there, fellow gun enthusiasts! If you've been keeping an eye on the Glock scene, you're probably buzzing about the new Glock 19 Gen 6. With a lineup of impressive upgrades like that sweet grip texture, a trigger-guard undercut, and even a beavertail, this generation is here to impress. After carrying it around for a few months and putting it through its paces, let's dive into the nitty-gritty of what Glock nailed and what might need a little TLC.

What’s New with the Glock 19 Gen 6?

First off, let’s talk about that grip texture. If you’re anything like me, you know how crucial a good grip is when you’re out in the field or at the range. The new texture offers a solid hold without being overly aggressive on your hands. Plus, the thumb rests are a nice touch—perfect for getting that comfortable shooting position right away.

Trigger-Guard Undercut: A Game Changer

The trigger-guard undercut is another feature that's made my shooting experience so much better. It allows for a higher grip on the gun, which translates to reduced recoil and better control. For those long days at the range or during outdoor adventures, this little tweak can make all the difference.

Optics Ready? You Bet!

One of the biggest changes with this generation is how easy it is to mount optics. Gone are the days of complicated setups—Glock has simplified this process so you can slap on your favorite red dot sight without breaking a sweat. If you're into precision shooting or just want to enhance your accuracy during those outdoor excursions, you'll appreciate this upgrade.

What Still Needs Work?

Now, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. While I love most of what Glock has done with the Gen 6, I’ve noticed some quirks that still deserve some attention. For instance, while the overall feel is solid, some folks might find themselves wishing for additional customization options in terms of backstraps or other ergonomic adjustments.

Final Thoughts

All in all, the Glock 19 Gen 6 brings some fantastic features to table while addressing many of the desires from us loyal Glock fans. Whether you’re an experienced shooter or just starting out on your outdoor adventures with firearms, this model certainly deserves your consideration. Just remember to try it out for yourself—everyone's preferences differ! Happy shooting!
